Learn to speak with both patients and other medical professionals with confi dence and clarity.

Length of Program:

MEDICAL PLACEMENTS
Upon successful completion of a minimum of 10 weeks in the Intensive English For Medicine course, succesful students are placed at a hospital, medical clinic, physiotherapy clinc, lab, or Long-Term Care Facility (elderly care) for a volunteer medical placement.

The focus of the Medical Placement is to give students the opportunity to practice speaking English in an English-speaking medical environment. Students will also learn about medical practices in Canada.

During a typical Medical Placement, students will largely be involved in administration-type tasks such as record keeping & fi ling. Students will have the opportunity to observe Canadian medical professionals at work, as well as interact with them in English.

Note: due to liability issues, students will not be directly involved in practicing medicine. Due to the limited availability of medical placements, students may request a specifi c placement type (ie: hospital, physioclinic, etc.), but a specifi c placement is not guaranteed.

Students must study a minimum of 50% of their time in class and can participate in a medical placement for the other 50%.
